Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort Miami
Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort Miami Reviews
A perfect place to pamper your pooch! Aug 21, 2008
I spend a lot of time in Miami but rarely stay in hotels there. On Memorial day weekend this year I found myself looking for a place to stay for the weekend having been booted from my boyfriends house due to his visiting Mother. No problem on my end except that most of my favorite hotels in Miami will not allow my child to stay with me. My baby is a very spoiled two year old Shih Tzu named Daisy. Since more and more luxury hotels are now catering to pet owners, I decided to give the Fairmont a try. I loved their resorts in Acapulco and Scottsdale but had never visited their Miami property. I am gobsmacked that I waited so long!
The resort is not in South Beach or even in Miami Beach for that matter. It is located in Aventura, fifteen miles north of downtown and over the causeway from Sunny Isles Beach. South Beach is a good 25 to 30 minute drive so this hotel is not recommended for anyone wishing to go clubbing. It is also not beachfront, but the hotel does have a private beach and a shuttle to take you across the causeway. This hotel is perfect for golfers, tennis players and shoppers. The Beautiful Aventura mall is only two blocks away. The only thing better than the tennis and the shopping is the pet friendly atmosphere. Daisy arrived in her room to find bowls, toys, treats and even a pet bed just her size. She was also delighted with the spacious balcony that became a prime bird viewing site for her. Although the room service menu featured several items for the four legged guests, we chose to dine out. All of the restaurants at the resort allowed owners to bring their well behaved pets with them. She even attended the happy hour in the posh lobby bar. The only bad thing about the Turnberry is the effect on your wallet. It is not cheap. The pet fee of $25 per day is more reasonable than most hotels though. If you want to treat yourself to a beautiful weekend with your favorite doggy, this is the place. |
