Fairmont Hotel Washington D.C. Reviews
An expensive disappointment Aug 27, 2010
I was disappointed by this hotel. I went there with the Jessup Competition in 2009. The room was cramped, and the furniture was definitely too big for it. The windows wouldn't open, with the exception of a small part at the bottom, and that only for a bit.
I was horribly surprised finding the following: faeces on the bathroom floor, which were masked with a carpet over them; nuts and dust under the bed. When I called the non-English speaking staff, they sent two persons who debated whether I needed plumbing or housecleaning, again not in understandable English. The poor people looked tired and overworked. Eventually, the faeces problem was solved, although not the nuts and dust one.
Further down my 10-days stay, I wanted to watch some pay-per-view movies, some of which were not available. In the middle of the night, they sent another non-English speaking person to fiddle with my remote without any purpose, and I had to explain to him to get out because he was not helping and disturbing my friend.
The bathroom only had a fixed wall shower, which is always hard to use, and the whole thing was unbelievably hot.
The staff were poorly trained, unhelpful and only looking for large tips. The general hotel area was large but unimpressive. The view was not worthy of the quite good location. Breakfast was underwhelming, poor actually, so I decided to go down the road to a French place for a proper fruit squish.
I would not recommend this hotel, except for the location.
