Fahrzeug- und Technikmuseum Nantenbach Reviews
Highlight for lovers of technics and vehicles May 24, 2009
Nantenbach is a small village near my hometown Lohr. Just a few hundred people living there. Nothing special to see there. Nothing special? Well, yes there is: The museum of technics and vehicles!
It all started decades ago when Mr. Zimmermann, the owner of a local metal engineering company began collecting cars, motorbikes and all sorts of technical stuff.
Eventually he had so many exhibits that his family and friends encouraged him to open a museum to show those things to all people.
Well, he did and built a small museum that grew bigger and bigger over the years.
It's not the German Museum in Munich... it's still small and tiny, just a few rooms.
But you can see many rare and exotic exhibits in here. Mainly motorbikes, many originally owned by famous race drivers. There are also some nice cars, like the unforgetable BMW Isetta, a small two seated car with front entry and a BMW motorcycle engine from the 1950's. You can see boats, airplanes, engines, old radios and turntables, bicycles, a giant steam engine and many more remarkable exhibits, many of them with an exciting story how they got in that museum.
If you happen to be around in the area and you like old bikes and the like, you definetely have to go there!
Operating hours usually are Sunday from 10am to 4pm. The boss Mr. Zimmermann will be your personal tour guide and he knows a story to every sample in the museum!
