F.Scott & Zelda Fitzgerald Burial Place Reviews
Gravesite of Author F. Scott Fitzgerald Jun 11, 2008
One of the more interesting discoveries in Rockville, Maryland is to find that the American author F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife, Zelda Sayre, are buried here. F. Scott Fitzgerald is most famous for his novel The Great Gatsby describing the 1920s Jazz Age lifestyle. Both were writers and the Fitzgeralds were celebrities in the 1920s-1930s. They never lived in Rockville, though his family came from the area.
F. Scott Fitgerald died in Los Angeles in 1940 and Zelda in North Carolina in 1948. They were intially buried in Rockville Cemetery. The Women's Club of Rockville arranged the reinterment at St. Mary's Cemetery in 1975. More information is at the Perless Rockville website. St. Mary's Cemetery and the gravesite are located just a few blocks from downtown Rockville and are fairly easy to find. You might want to visit if you have enjoyed Fitzgerald's writings, are a fan of literature, or are interested in seeing the final resting place of a famous author.
