The lazy way up the mountain Apr 03, 2015
The easiest way to get up to the mountains just outside Bergen is to get onboard Fløibanen and let the old funicular do the work getting you to the top without any effort on your behalf. Up and the top of the mountain you can enjoy amazing view of Bergen – it will be best early in the day since the city is to the west of the mountain – hence the view in the late afternoon and evening will be against the sun resulting in somewhat dim colours down below.

There will be frequent journeys to the top one funicular every 15 minutes from 10 to 20.30 at night and one every half our outside these times from early morning till late night. The tickets cost 83 NOK return and 43 one-way – probably go for the uphill trip if only doing one-way. The use of the funicular is free with Bergen Pass during the off season and there is a discount during peak season.

You can just go up and enjoy the view from the top if you like – or you can go for a hike in the mountains above Bergen or have a coffee or meal at the restaurant at the top of the hill.

Great Views Of Bergen And The Fjords Apr 30, 2010
The Fløibanen lower station is just up from the Fishmarket at the side of the Bryggen up a street called Vetrlidsalim.Even for the time of year there was still a queue for it, and coach parties arrived and were taken straight through. Was only a fifteen minute wait though.

Cost 70NOK to go up, and ticket is bar coded. When you passs through the turnstykes you notice an electronic screen that is counting down the number of passangers each car can take and then will close the turnstyle. Don't ditch your ticket when you get up, as you need it for getting back down.

Need to be fast to get either the row at the front or the back, or you will be stiuck with just side views.

Took about 5 minutes to get up to the top, where, despite it still being a bit overcast, the views down over the town and out into the fjords was spectacular. There is a large concreted veiwing area looking down onto Bergen.

There are a series of paths around the top. A few different walks to take around Mount Fløyen and views of the mountains inland.

Has a restaurant, souvenir shop, toilet and childrens play area round about the top station.

We spent about an hour at the top, and it was well worth doing

The view of Bergen from Mount Fløyen is quite magnificent, and the viewing platform is an experiens in itself. Bergen is surrounded of seven mountains. Mount Fløyen is a beautiful nature area with great scenery and many lovely walks to choose from. There is also a resturant, cafè, souvernir shop and a play area for children.

Bergen is surrounded by one of the world`s most specular tourist attractions - the Norwegian fjords. Why not take a fjord sightseeing for half day with "White Lady". I promiss you, you will not bee dissapointed.

Lots to see in Bergen. Take a walk on de fishing market, study the beautiful old wodden houses, have a beer in the sun, and just enjoy life.

Check the website link www.visitBergen.com.

Enjoy the town, and it can bee sunny and warm i Bergen, inspite of all says about the rain. :0)

FLØIBANEN is nothing other than a overpriced cafe and a tram-like transport that will take you up there, but what they are selling are the view and its no wonder why there is so many people comming here.

The view is magnificent and the Tram-like transportation is the only one of its kind in Scandinavia. Its also an good starting point if you want to walk to mountains around Bergen.

Well worth doing. Just walk to the top if you dont want to pay 35kr each way to take the transport.
