On our way to visiting family in Switzerland, my mother and I needed a cheap place to spend the night, half way our journey. We decided on Strasbourg and checked for affordable hotels in the area. Formula 1 hotels came up on the map 4 times.

Cheap it is, for only € 34 per room, per night. A room that is suitable for three people, making it € 11.33 per head. For that little money, little luxury is provided. Toilets and showers are out in the hall, shared with at least 12 other (mostly fully booked) rooms.

The walls are made of the thinnest cardboard, the floors bounce with every step you take. Loud drunken youth and early up and about construction workers occupied the other rooms of our wing. A noisy experience was the result. The rooms are clean and tidy enough though.

Drinks are available in a vending machine, breakfast sets you back only € 4.00 but is still overpriced because of poor quality.

If you are young, don't have money, not expecting luxury and you’re the last one to go to bed, this is your place! My nearly 70 year old mother however, will not be returning to a Formula 1 hotel.
Hard to miss the distinctive yel

I'm just going to check into a better hotel. :) You can all come and bunk with me. Sylvia, we can still drink until you fall down, and Bev, a better hotel WILL have some grass, and Rudolph we'll have another room for your mother so our partying won't keep her awake all night, unless she would like to join us. :)
