Express by Holiday Inn Hong Kong

Despite having been to Hong Kong Island on a number of occasions, I have never had the opportunity to stay at "the Hong Kong side" till my most recent trip.

Our adventure started the moment we hopped into a red cab and attempted to communicate our destination to our driver.

He responded, "Holiday Inn in Times Square? Everyone knows Times Square."

And right he was.

Introduction:

The Express by Holiday Inn in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong is not an architectural head turner by any stretch of the imagination but this multilevel facility (i.e. escalator to the lobby, two elevators exclusively for access to the restaurants such as Zi Xing Xuan (2nd Floor--fine Chinese Cuisine), Pizza Hut (3rd Floor--don't even get me started with their new fine dining presentation which reminds me of the 1993 movie "The Demolition Man" wherein the DVD release presents Pizza Hut in much the same manner), and Entrecote: le steak house francais (6th Floor - which took care of our breakfast (scrambled eggs, two strips of bacon, two pieces of toast, a hash brown, and a glass of juice) as part of our check-in privilages. Rounding out the lobby are the three or four elevators for hotel guests use.)

Room and Amenities:

Our group stayed on the eight floor and in a very generously spaced room facing the Times Square building. The room could easily accommodate three people with one willing to retire in a foldout sofa bed. My favorite amenities included loads of clean towels, free internet connection and computer cable, wall socket converter, digital safe, warm water, and a dual function door that acts as a divider to the toilet or the bathroom as a whole.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Express by Holiday Inn. It is an experience I would certainly revisit--especially since it is the vicinity of my favorite shops like CD Warehouse, Disc Plus, Ching Yuen Electrical Co. Ltd., and Toys R' Us.
