Exploring the Life’s of Malaysia Aboriginals Taman Negara Reviews
Interesting peek into Orang Asli life Mar 11, 2008
We visited an Orang Asli (Aboriginal) tribe in Taman Negara, Malaysia.
It was pretty interesting. We learned how they make fire and hunt. We were also shown how to use a blow pipe and had a chance to have a go ourselves!
It is also interesting to learn about how they once totally relied on the forest to survive and how that has changed.
I kind of felt a bit awkward visiting the tribe, as if I was invading their space.
Our guide answered many of our questions but it was particularly interesting to talk with one of the women (in Malay) about her family.
The Orang Asli people are nomads and move their camp site every few years. They keep a number of animals around their village including chickens. While we were there they had a VERY cute baby Civet.
You can reach the village by boat which is a lot of fun.
