Excellent Acapulco Tour Guide!!

My wife and I took a tour with Rudy Fregoso of TourByVan Acapulco on April 2, 2009 with a couple from Wales, Great Britain after the termination of our Panama Canal cruise. He was waiting on us at the pedestrian exit as he said he would be and he spoke excellent English. He had made room in the rear of his van to accommodate our luggage and made sure it was protected by either he or someone else watching the van when we were not in it. The van was clean and air conditioned. Rudy also provided a large cooler with several different types of refreshments (water, colas, and beer). He will arrange pretty much any kind of tour you would like as one of his specialties is tailored tours to your liking. He will just request that you discuss with him ahead of time where you want to go so that he can arrange the best itinerary and price for you.

He took us to all of the “normal” tourist sites including the Peace Chapel, cliff divers, Hotel Flamingo, Hotel Casablanca (awesome view) and the murals of Diego Rivera, the Zocalo, Fuerte de San Diego, and the Mercado. Along the way to all of the sites he told us interesting points of interest and stopped at several places for us to take pictures. He also asked if we were interested in seeing the real Acapulco and not just the tourist sites. We then went on a tour of the back streets of Acapulco and saw how the regular citizens of Acapulco lived along with some interesting sites we would not have seen otherwise. Lastly he took us up on a high cliff overlooking the bay where we had a view of all of Acapulco and its beaches. We went El Zoritto for lunch which I had read about on cruise Critic and which Rudy recommended when I asked him about it.

I would like point out that on our way to the Chapel of Peace Rudy pointed out a small local restaurant (Fruitland) on a small side street from the main road that he said was a good local Mexican restaurant. He then was quick to point out that his wife owned the restaurant. As it was less than a block from our hotel we went there for lunch the next day and had a very good and inexpensive lunch. Like Rudy, his wife tries to make sure her customers are taken care of and enjoy the meal. We liked it enough that we went back for breakfast on our last day and once again had a good meal.
