Gators & Mosquitos May 25, 2008
Everglades National Park is the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. I camped in both of the main campgrounds in the park and was quite happy with the park. They have many short trails to walk that are very informative. Also if you veer out of the way a bit there are longer trails that are very empty compared to the rest. The campgrounds are nice and very well maintained with great hosts. If you have a canoe then a larger part of the park is open to you to navigate and camp through the beautiful waterways. This is definitely a must see when visiting Florida.

Canoeing in Everglades Naional Park Mar 04, 2008
Driving down the tar road you don't see much around you. Bushland and swamps and the odd alligator. We rented a canoe and braved the Everglades National Park. We heard lot of stories about people going missing, but I'm sure that they were just yanking our aussie chains.
When you first paddle through the water you think you are alone and then when you hit the bushes, a whole army of mosquitos start to attack. I never heard anything like it. I think I sprayed a whole bottle of insect repellent on me.
It was so totally worth it though - it was amazing.
The whole trip took just over 3 hours.
I recommend it to everyone.

Now it did take me half an hour to decide if i wanted to go to the everglades the thought of close contact with crocodiles is not my idea of fun!.Ok so i got persuaded and i wanted to experience everythink so i went.It was the most fun experience with amazing scenery ive seen nothink like it before in my life. The only thing that can spoil it is the noise from the hover boat its very loud and im not a lover of flying hornets and before the ride hanging round there were many of them. But defenetly you must go and experience you will regret it if you dont.Just keep your legs in the boat and hold on tight !!!

This airboat tour through the Everglades in Everglades Safari Park was the best $20 I have ever spent in my life. The hours I spent at Safari Park were some of the most fun and most meaningful in my life! I still can't believe it was so cheap!!! The 20 dollar tour includes a 40 minute airboat tour through the Everglades, an alligator show (NOT alligator wrestling, but moreso a show where they teach you about alligators, with demonstrations on actual alligators), the opportunity to hold baby alligators and take pictures with them and access to a gator farm, where they have alligators and crocodiles from all over the world. I highly recommend this tour- the Everglades are gorgeous.. so gorgeous and serene that it gave me the chills. The wildlife is incredible! I saw turtles, cranes, alligators and all kinds of other animals...
Everyone there is really knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. I just can't emphasize how worth it it is to go here. It's only about a 30 minute drive out of Miami and only 20 bucks... and SO worth it that I will probably go back next time I'm in the area.
