Evandale is a pretty little town with elegant Georgian buildings, many in original condition, and is a classified Historic Town. It gets its name from the surveyor and painter, George William Evans. Situated 20km south of Launceston on the South Esk River, Evandale is host to the annual World Penny Farthing bicycle Championships and the Evandale Market held every Sunday between 8am and 4pm. You can stop for lunch in one of the cafes or restaurants in town, then head back to your accommodation in for a port by the open fire of one of the many cottages, cabins, guesthouses or Bed and Breakfasts in the area.
