Gare de Nord

A must travel route Dec 26, 2010
Have you watched the movie Mission Impossible having the exciting climax fight sequence of Tom Cruise atop a train Going from France to London?
Well I did and loved it.More so I wanted to travel in the train at least once during my travels to Europe.
The train fondly called the chunnel train leaves Paris Gare de Nord reaches Calais the northern port of Paris enters a tunnel under the English Channel to chug out at Dover the southern port of England to reach Waterloo Railway station in within about two and a half hours.Check in at Paris,go through the immigration and security clearance and hop on to the train. You can always get a window seat and enjoy the speed of the train in the french country side. You can see a lot of horses, deers
and greenery before you will be bemused by the large Calais sea port.
The train moves slowly into the tunnel and the speed is much reduced.Nothing much to see until you slowly come out of the tunnel and travel through the English sea port of Dover and it's countryside. The architecture drastically changes in the English side with small houses with chimneys and a garden adding beauty to the landscape. The train moves slowly through towns and reaches Waterloo where the immigration, customs and security procedures are gone through.
The train has a cafeteria and bar too, I was too fascinated at the smooth speed and landscapes that just a beer and nuts were enough to keep the travel as exciting and more than I had anticipated..
