I realised today that I have been 18 for exactly 4 months! Not even half a year! On the one hand it made me feel very young, on the other it made me stop and take stock of what I feel I have achieved since I legally became an adult. Before my birthday I made a quiet pact with myself; turning 18 and running away to Europe was my chance to start living the life I love and loving it (to paraphrase the sage Mr Marley). I promised me that I would grab my goals, big and small, with two hands. Sorry ...

D-day to me,
on the contrary to the more commonly used term, means Departure day. It is now 23:52h,
tomorrow is D-day. I always get a little nervous the night before departure.
Nervous in a positive way, mind you. I always look forward to the journey. It
doesn't matter what means of transportation I'll be using. It has to do with
the hustle and bustle of traveling. It is the anticipation off things to come,
the things I am going to see, the (for now) unknown people I'm going to meet,
t...

Although this entry says London we didn't get to London until around 9:30pm but I decided that I should put the location as where I spent that night. We had to check out of St. Christophers at 10 but our train didn't leave till 4 so we had some time to kill. Melissa and I became very good at killing time by the end of our trip haha. We stored our bags and got some lunch..while we were having lunch we used this opportunity to send home a few postcards. We walked up Carlton hill and got an amaz...

After a fun night in the old city with the pre meetup group I was ready for another round. :DWe met at the mainstation and there were so many people. That was just too cool. Since we had to wait for another 4 guys I had the time to talk to a few new members who just arrived on that day.For example Devika, a very nice and outgoing girl. We took the subway to the other site of the river and walked back over the bridge, heading to the old city. It was raining, it was cold, it was windy but it wa...

It is one of the 11 areas of the city of Nantes, located between two parts of the river Loire. I have only seen it at night, when the Buren rings all along the quai are turned on and the night gives a new life to the "hangar à bananes" (shed of bananas), rehabilitated as restaurant, pubs, bars and clubs with a large choice of atmosphere. On the way to the hangar, I saw the huge elephant, a part of the artistic, touristic and cultural project of the island: the machine in wood and steel more t...

Jos, Ouss and I went direct to the Hbf to meet the others, arriving at 4:45, just in time (or so we thought). We waited for a while and had a chance to meet the other travbuddies as they gradually wandered in, with roll call coming around 45 minutes later. Joining us here were kat_mac27, Bondy2007, wanderinwurzel, lovely_lori88, marloesetman, devika1985, Robbo_88, Jefrois, 2win, Otto219, mat-uk, ben589, anamorenoramos, eefab, wayneollerenshaw, ashishrb, nycgirl76, archie1978,...

Today, we were using a different route to Goteborg. This time through the mountains and along lakes. I think Sweden is very beautiful after all. But still I haven't seen the famous blonde women. Or am I confused with Norway?
In Goteborg we had planty of time to shop so I did! I bought new summer-dresses, some t-shirts, more shirts but no shoes. I know, I never went somewhere without buying shoes...I really don't know why I didn't. Maybe I was still a bit stressed.
The b...

Well I wasn’t going to write a blog for this (mainly because I can’t remember half the stuff that happened!), but seeing as though most people have made an effort (some as soon as the meet-up was over i.e. Lauro and Hanie!), I thought it only fair if I documented my side of the story…:S
I think the whole trip started off on a bad note, so something (or everything in this case), was bound to go wrong! The palaver started on Wednesday evening I think, when I got a call from Wayne...

I woke up before Danny and Mike and decided to go down to the kitchen to check out the free breakfast that they offer. It was just toast and jam and then tea or coffee. So nothing too exciting but it’s included in the price so why not. I didn’t see the coffee at first and made a tea which I then drank really really fast so I could make a copy. This American guy sat down beside me who was really nice and REALLY American. He made me laugh a lot. But it was nice to chat with him and then Mik...

Apart from few churches, we have seen everything in Krakow that we wanted to see. And yet, we got a full day to spend here. That is because we first thought of going to Chestochowa, but finally didn't do so. Luckily, the weather is on our side today, so we can just stroll around a bit and enjoy our last day here.We start with a walk past the three churches we still wanted to see: the Dominican church, the Saint Franciscan basilica and the Saint Peter and Paul church. Looking back to it now, t...

Friday 18 April For me it was the first time in 1 year I travelled with the ICE train to Germany and put a footstep on the German floor. Some travbuddies know the story about my 2 wonderful years relationship with my ex-girlfriend Joyce. So I travelled a lot to Frankfurt am Main. In the beginning it was hard for me to go Germany again, coz of the memories. But that day, it didn't matter at all, because I had a great company with Alex, Willem, Wendy, Rowena, Johan and Melis...

So the festivus of New Year's in London was pretty much a night of us being completely unorganized and trolling the city looking for food. Not much different from any other night, you might be thinking, but you would be wrong. Because it was loads of fun, we ate at this restaurant called The Rock Garden (that still cracks me up two days later), there was lots of food and champagne, and then we left with 15 minutes to get to the fireworks. Which we of course did not manage to...
