Etap Hotel Stuttgart

Hotel priced at €55 for a single room, or €65 for two( think the €39 price listed must be for days in February that don't have a Y in them ). However it is quite a bit out f the city centre and you would have to add the cost of U-Bahn ( or worse taxi) , so may be as cheap and easier staying right in city centre.It was 5 stops on the U6 line and took about 15 minutes

It is situated right outside the Maybachstrasse Staation on th U6 line( direction Gerlingen)or U13 from the main station and costs €2-40 for each journey.

Reception was good and quick and the bloke at the desk spoke fluent English ( better than mine ;-) )

The hotel is quite modern, and I noticed vending machines in the lobby, for drinks and cigarettes, on the way to the lift.

There are no keys or cards for the rooms, but instead when you check in you are given a 6 digit PIN number to key into a pad on the door.I tpre mine off and stuck it in my back pocket as there was no way I was going to remember it later that night.

Room was quite big, but looked really bare. A hard wearing fibre carpet did little for the aesthetics,but is probably far easier to clean. The bed was a strang bunk bed configuration, with a double bed coming out from the wall and a single bed crossing over it above.

Had a seperate toilet and shower, but wash basin was in the room. No great views from the window as it backed onto anothe metallic framed building. TV had just basic channels.

Not that I was caring, I didn't intend to spen much time in the room, and was soon on the go again.

There was a notice in the lift that told you all the stuff that was available in the Fitness Lounge, but I was sore enough by then.

Once I got outside I noticed a bar/reataurant next to the hotel, which although attached,looked as if it was a seperate business.

No probs getting U-Bahn back out later at night, and had a pretty good sleep there to be honest.
