Estado de San Luis Potosi is for the most part a high desert region in south central Mexico. It has a lengthy history and had a role in the Mexican Revolution. The capital city of the same name is filled with exquisite colonial architecture, and open plazas where you can soak it in. There is a rain forest region in the east known as La Huasteca. The region is also famous for the nothern desert are known as Real de Catorce, which is famed for the prized Peyote cactus which allows for spiritual hallucinations. It is truly a beautiful and storied place.

And the winner...Micos. Like I said, i am a novice paddler, very novice. But I felt confident, if anything would go wrong, I had an olympic kayaker with me to help. Well, I did not survive the first few seconds in the boat. I flipped over immediately, and since my suicide roll is shakey at best, I decided to sit this one out.So me and the Brits met the brave souls halfway down, and had lunch by the river. This was one of the more exciting trips down because my parents got to come. In a way it was one of the more difficult ones, my youngest fell down stairs and had to have a cast placed on her left wrist for a hairline fracture. Gave us all a scare! It'a always a thrill to go see my inlaws and see how much all the kids have grown! Some of them are even learning English in school! Which is helpfull to me since I don't a lot of Spanish! After 10 years, they probably wonder if I'll ever get to it!
