Chihuahua is the biggest of the 31 states that form the Mexican Republic. It is located in the north part of the country and is surrounded by the Mexican states of Durango, Coahuila, Sonora and Sinaloa and the American States of New Mexico and Texas. The size of Chihuahua is of 244,938 km², so don't be shocked when you hear that the bus from Ciudad Juarez to Chihuahua takes aprox. 7 hours.

Chihuahua is divided in 67 municipalities. The capital city is Chihuahua, but its biggest city is Ciudad Juarez. The total population of the state is of about 3.2 million, 63 % of that population is distributed in the two biggest cities.

January 2008Dear Friends & Family, I recently returned from my 5th service trip to Juarez, Mexico. This trip did not fail to disappoint me. The poverty shocked me more than it has in the past- I remember thinking that I seemed to be “numb” to it because I had seen it before and was perhaps getting used to it. But not this time. Ciudad Juarez? What the hell?!

The mexican football team played in ciudad juarez for the first time in twenty years and with a very small stadium (30,000) it was quite hard to get a ticket for a decent price. Fortunately I was able to get into their training session the day before the match and these are some photos I took that day.

Well, our attempt to take it easy last night and movie it up failed miserably. Our friends came and practically dragged us out of our room to a bar they frequent. This is no ordinary bar; this is a magical secret bar that sells beers for 1 peso apiece. One peso! Thats about 10 cents a beer. The Copper Canyon (Spanish: Barranca del Cobre) is a canyon system in the Sierra Tarahumara in the southwestern part of the state of Chihuahua in Mexico.
