Visiting Tijuana
posted by:

Suzie wasn't very enthusiastic about going to Tijuana, but since I insisted that we go and assured her we would have lots of fun, she agreed.  We drove her truck down to San Ysidro and parked as close as we could to the U.S.-Mexican border.  From the parking lot we got a round trip bus ticket that took us directly to the heart of Tijuana's tourist section--Avenida Revolucion.  For anyone going into Mexico from San...

Fortunately, the Sea of Cortez is never too far away for a refreshing dip with almost 50 miles of uninterrupted beaches.  Strolling along the seafront walkway in the evening is a great way to enjoy the evenings all year long. I planned on spending the remainder of the day photographing my charming destination.  As I made my way thru town to the sand dunes for some motorized fun I passed the homes, shacks and shanties that lined the road.  The kids outdoors playing since most o...

When I say Dean, What do you think of, maybe it is somebody you know, maybe it is a relative, maybe it is even the name of a place your been to. For me Dean got a complete different meaning during the last week. As many might know last week was a very easy week. With a lot of relaxing, talking with Tere and to plan my next trip in Mexico. This trip is going to be with Hannah from Scotland (sorry, stupid joke I know, but very funny, for insiders only), sorry I mean England. The destination w...

The Hut
posted by:

The road to the hut runs a little way in from the coast.  Ok, there are two choices: my favorite it the Free Road, the original highway that runs along the beach, through all the little towns.  The downside is that it takes a really long time since there's a stopsign every block or two for 50 miles.  It's cool if you make that the trip though.  We took the Toll Road.  You don't see as much, but you get there a lot sooner.  They found it necessary though to put a toll booth every couple ...

Not wanting to end my unforgettable road-trip, once I returned to San Diego I picked up my friend Kristen and we continued to drive south of the border into Mexico.  About 2 hours from Tiajuana was the charming seaside town of Ensenada, meaning "cove" in English.  We spent a few relaxing days there and then it was time for me to return to San Diego and prepare myself for my next road-trip; this time across the country! Our battered suitcases...

Bus Ride to TJ Angel dropped me off at the bus station about 2 hours early.  This gave me plenty of time to have some real Mexican food (as I have grown to know it) before going to  Mexico.  ;) Seriously, the BRC buritto at the bus station was surprisingly good.  I also had plenty of time to delete the 1300 photos stored in my camera from my last trip and drain the battery on my camera while I was at it.  Good start to a trip!  I still had time to kill so I got ...

Tujuana, for a day of sight seeing and Corona Beer
posted by:

We walked across the border and hopped onto another bus, which took us to downtown Tijuana, where we wandered the streets, bought some souvenirs and had some lunch. Back across the border to the USA and we had to wait for one of the other travellers who only had a student visa and was not meant to leave the states, so she was stuck at the Mexican border, and we were stuck waiting for her. While we were waiting one of the other travellers disappeared, we found out later he decided to...

So for me this trip was a bust. Since it was in the winter, the weather was colder, at the most 20 degrees celcius. I did take alot of pictures, though, as I like doing so. If you go to California, go during the summer and not as a winter vacation.

Tecate!

After the proper paperwork is filled out for an antique train to enter the country, we continue to grind down the slope to Tecate, following a pilot car required by the government. This is deep backcountry with only scattered ranches amongst the brush.Closer to town an occasional broken car starts to appear along the tracks, until both sides are surrounded by thousands of cars! This is the graveyard of all wrecked southern California cars- they pass through the junkyards along the border un...
