My grandma (dad's mom) is from Essen, Germany. She passed away three weeks ago at age 94! She was born here ın 1912 and left ın 1936. She was lucky to escape the Nazı regime ın 1936 and flee wıth my grandfather. She never returned to Essen and never spoke much about her chıldhood ın Essen.
