Erotic Museum Amsterdam Reviews
So many better museums to see in Amsterdam Oct 09, 2014
With the Netherlands being such a liberal country it's no wonder they would have an erotic museum. We were actually looking for the Sex Museum but couldn't find it (not sure how!) so went to the Erotic Museum as it was only €7. Although afterwards I found out the Sex Museum was only €4.
We found the entrance amusing as there was a girl riding... well an interesting bicycle. Although sadly the museum was a disappointment. It was more just a building of cluttered glass cases full of anything sexual.
There was a tv room that was decorated to look like a children's room but the cartoons were of a sexual nature so not what I would call a children's cartoon but this is the Netherlands so you never know! Kinda amusing to watch though.

God is myn burgh! Jan 02, 2010
As Netherlands has more liberal attitudes to sex than many other countries,Amsterdam hosts 2 "naughty" museums, the Sex and the Erotic museums.
If you are not uptight and tightass(the Sex museum,Damrack 18 is much cheaper),you may visit the Erotic museum located in a 17th century warehouse in the middle of the Red Light District.
It's z bit strange to see the legend on the building's gable stone:God is myn burgh,i.e God is my citadel.
This museum displays on 5 floors various aspects of human sexuality in old postcatds, drawings, books, comics, photographs, videos and different items.
At the entrance you are welcome by a woman on a bike in a seductive outfit who gets off as she pedals and also people can find on the ground floor a "classical" shop selling erotic items.
On the first floor are glass cabinets with various wooden, ivory and stone carvings and items. One of them is all-interesting:the Dr. Macaura's Pulsoconn possibly mid 1880's.It is said to be the first known vibrator with mechanism. There is also for the music lovers, a "naugthy" Austrian music box with figures on a Victorian bed which move in sexual activity while music plays.
The second floor will enjoy the Beatles fans hosting on an entire wall of John Lennon drawings given to Yoko Ono as wedding presents.
On the third floor there is a replica of a typical Red Light District prostitute' work room,an odd condom machine...
The fourth floor is devoted to SM,fetischism and bondage.
Don't miss also the TV room with X-rated cartoons of White Snow and the Seven Dwarfs and the "make your own picture" room.
Entry fee:now 7 euro says Christopher!
