perfect hostel in yerevan Aug 02, 2011
I stayed in this place for 4 nights in the summer of 2011. It is a almost perfect hostel in the centre of Yerevan, very modern, spotless and convenient for all purposes. Beds are nice, showers and bathrooms not too crowded, there's breakfast, a spacious living room, 3 computers with internet, friendly staff and organized tours, both free and not free. Only minus I can think of is that it is so professional I wouldn't exactly call it charming, and it is quite big, but for most travellers on a budget envoy hostel will feel like an oasis. highly recommended.

Great Hostel Apr 11, 2011
Great hostel in the heart of Erevan. Centrally located with a short walk to the supermarket and to the very centre of the city. Good tours too.

The only true backpacker hostel in the wide region May 15, 2010
The Envoy hostel is the only true backpacker hostel in Armenia, or, in fact, in the whole Caucasus region, including Eastern Turkey and Western Iran.

It was set up by Australians (who else?) and offers several mixed dorms as well as a few rooms, all with very comfortable beds.

The shared facilities are clean and hot water seems always available (thanks to the signs requesting not to take a shower for more than 7 minutes?).

A rather tiny breakfast is included in the price. This is the only gripe I have about the place. Then again, around the corner at the Opera House square there are half a dozen excellent coffee houses, so it is easy enough to get your caffeine fix in the morning.

The hostel offers free wi-fi, laundry service and can help with booking transportation to other parts of the country and beyond.

There is a very large common room with communal kitchen, which is a great place to meet other travellers. There are two internet computers available (free of charge) of there is wi-fi if you have your own laptop with you.

The Envoy Hostel also has a travel agency, Envoy Tours, which offers a wide range of tours around the country, which are particularly good value. In addition to this there are also free daily city walks in the morning and evening.

To sum it up, this is probably the best place to stay in Yerevan, especially if you are looking to meet other travellers. While it is not cheap (there is another, cheaper hostel in town) the excellent amenities make it good value.

One note of warning though. The hotel has the acoustics that would make a concert hall proud. A simple conversation in the reception area will reverb around the hallways and common area.

Light sleepers take ear plugs!

Friendliest hostel in Armenia May 28, 2009
The hostel is on a side street in the center of town. So, you don't get the noise of the main streets. The reception is very friendly and always willing to help with any requests. The common room with computers, table and chairs, couches, and a large TV is a generous size room in the basement. There is a common kitchen just off it as well. Our room was nicely sized but not large. The bed was comfy and the pillow was as well. The bathrooms are very clean and I never had to wait. This is one of,if not the nicest hostel I have ever stay at. If you travel to Yerevan, this is the place to stay.

Also, you must go on some of the tours. Gevorg is a great guy and will show you his country. He is knowledgeable and funny.....always with a great joke. The tours are of great value. Read about them in my blog of Armenia.
