Most of tourists in southern of Spain enter Morocco from my native town,Tangier,a legendary town in north of Africa, here is a summary about it :   Tangier is situated in the north-west of Africa,it is the nearest point to Spain (15 Km ).In the 17th century it was the diplomatic capital of Morocco, actually the Summer capital. It history goes up to the prehistorical era,the local people are called the BERBERS.The first visitors from other civilizations were the FHONICIANS and later the CARTHAGINIANS and the ROMANS.The Arabs took possession in the 7Th century. From the 15th century to the 17 Th,it was ruled successively by,Portugal,Spain and England. In 1923 it became an international city, with a special statute ruled by 9 Occidental countries. In 1956,date of the independence,Tangier was unified to the kingdom of Morocco. It population is a mixture of people,Berbers,Arabs,Jewish, and Christians. It climate is mild (average of 13 C° in the winter and 23 C° in the summer).Famous people from all over the world lived in Tangier, like MALCOM FORBES,PAUL BOWLS,HENRI MATISSE,DELACROIX...the Great geografher and explorer IBN BATOUTA (14 century) was born in the old Medina.
