Good low budget place Apr 19, 2014
Spent one night waiting for my flight.

Got a single room for $ 10.

Washroom was shared by 4 rooms, of which 3 were empty, so I was the only one using it. The washroom could have been better though.

The room was decent enough for the price.

The staff was friendly ehough.

Entebbe is a small place, so other attractions were within walking distances. Slightly longer walks though.

Good enough for travelers on short trips.

Stayed March 2014, travelled solo

Basic, busy backpacker joint Jul 05, 2013
If you are in search of a backpacker joint, this is one of the better options in Entebbe - relatively inexpensive, conveniently located, and with a range of accommodation from private rooms to shared dorms and a campsite where you can pitch your own tent. It tends to get full pretty easily, so advance booking may be prudent. However, if you are like me and just turn up at most places without a booking, you should usually get something. I didn't get the private I wanted, as those were totally full up, but sharing a four-bed room with a couple of others wasn't that bad - in fact, we became friends and spent the next day wandering, drinking and eating around Entebbe together.

The place is located on Church Road, a road that branches off from the main Kampala-Entebbe road, and so is convenient enough for both the airport and the centre. We literally walked from the place to the airport once, and it took no more than twenty minutes or so - stopping by a lively beach and taking in the city enroute. Of course, this is not one of the beachfront hotels that travellers to Entebbe often hone in on.

Expect nothing much of the rooms - they are basic, but clean, and have attached bathrooms. Each bed in a shared room comes with storage space, reading lights and a cosy zippable mosquito net, a necessity in these parts. There is laundry service if you want, and breakfast can be brought. The staff, though, is rather indifferent - certainly not the enthusiastic helpful sort you usually find in several, if not most, backpacker joints of this type.

There is a kitchen in the premises that can dish up a limited set of items on their menu, but it is open only till 8 pm in the night and a bit dull - so its not like a happening bar or restaurant where you can hang out late or mingle much. The common sitting area is a bit cramped, and seems to be designed more for people to sit and watch the TV there than for conversation. You can buy drinks from the counter too, and there are computers that you can pay for and use - but the internet connection and wifi is somewhat unreliable.

The grounds outside are much more pleasant to have a meal in and generally hang out. There are fountains there and a campsite where people pitch their tents, and it feels more relaxed and pleasant here than inside. The place has transport of its own if you want, slightly more expensive than what a cab might charge, though its easy enough to find a two-wheeler taxi ride just outside or a cab further down, on the main road.

Overall, its a good, reasonably priced, place to stay for a couple of nights or so - don't expect much by way of service or luxury, but it is cosy hangout for backpackers with basic amenities and a fairly convenient location. And if you just turn up and find its full or not up to the mark, there is a slightly more expensive and better appointed guesthouse right next to it!

A place to sleep May 27, 2009
I only stayed here during the night. I was dropped off at the hostel and picked up the next morning. However, it was not far from the airport and they will provide airport transfer (though you might have to wait a little while at the airport to be picked up). It was very nice and clean and there was a common room with a little restaurant, a TV and tips for what to do while you were there. It was a nice little place, but really nothing special. I would stay there again if I just needed a place to stay, but not as a place where I really enjoyed myself.
