This town is located in the southern part of the San Fernando Valley and is home to one of the largest parks in Los Angeles, although the Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area is really a huge flood control basin. The most beautiful part of the park is the Japanese Gardens in the northwestern corner. It also contains a couple of golf courses, armed forces reserve centers, various sporting facilities, and a wildlife area that is home--or at least a hotel--to thousands of birds.

Today was my quarterly visit to see my posh friend Helen who moved from behind the Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills in with her cardiologist boyfriend in Sherman Oaks. They must be nesting or something because they just got a new puppy a few weeks ago and invited me to see him - how about brunch in Encino?
