Empress Hotel New Orleans

This is definitely the worst hotel experience I've ever had. The reason I picked it was because they had a very misleading ad in the airport and it was cheap with a location close to the French Quarter. Sadly, I forgot the fact that you get what you pay for!

Upon arrival, this was one of the most run-down facilities I've ever seen. The service when I got there was HORRIBLE. The manager was yelling at this 50 something year old crackhead (literally!) for not cleaning the rooms properly because they had several people complaining and begging for refunds (which they don't do!) that day... I had to deal with all this for 1 hour while I waited to check in!!... My first instinct was this place is pretty bad, I should leave, but unfortunately I also though it won't be too bad and I get to save money. Then it got worse... To make it worse, when they brought me to "my" room... SOMEONE ELSE WAS ALREADY IN IT!! NO JOKE!! Apparently it was a friend of the girl who worked there and she begged me to wait upstairs quietly and not tell the owner/manager while she went downstairs to get a key for a "bigger" room. I said I don't care just please give me a room that's vacant and CLEAN! It was vacant... but not clean. I decided I didn't really care enough to deal with them again and knew I'd only be there for one night and it was only $40. One scary thing I learned from the guy working at the front desk that night when I came back (you have to give them your keys when you leave/get them when you come back), was that he gets called several times each night with BOMB THREATS from gang members of previous employees and evicted "guests" that got fired/kicked out for drugs and violence! The worst part, YES IT ACTUALLY GETS WORSE, was AT ABOUT 3AM I WOKE UP TO FIGHTING AND SCREAMING ABOUT A DRUG DEAL AND PEOPLE THREATENING TO KILL EACH OTHER!! I was going to call the front desk then I realized there was no phone in the room, and my cell had no service! I just made sure the door was locked and prayed that I didn't hear gun shots next. The next morning I found the cops outside and inside searching the motel and reviewing the security cameras at the fron desk. It was then that I had to leave and knew I'd never be coming back!....

SAVING M0NEY IS NOT WORTH RISKING YOUR SAFETY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Terrible is way too gracious rating for this hotel.
