Embassy Suites Hotel Chicago Downtown Lakefront

So, full disclosure… I have not yet spent the night at this particular Embassy Suites location. But two of my friends were visiting and stayed here, so I got to be in the room and the hotel proper. I have to say, my initial “without sleep” judgment is that it is a very nice place to stay. (ok, so you don’t have to read between the lines, because I did not sleep here, I also did not pay for the room, so I don’t know what the rates are).

Location wise, the Embassy Suites is in a great area. It is right next to the “River East” district which has a cinema (complete with bowling alley, pool hall and bar) and of course restaurants. It is a couple blocks from Michigan Ave – aka “The Magnificent Mile” and only a handful of blocks from Navy Pier.

I do have to admit that the elevator system was somewhat confusing; one must take one bank of elevators up to the lobby level, and a different set up to the rooms. BUT, the view from the lobby looking up to the room floors (and vice versa, from the hallways near the rooms down to the lobby) was quite interesting.

The room in which my friends were staying had a separate sitting / living room with the TV and a table and couches and an adjoining bedroom. The pictures on the wall were of famous Chicago sites (and, er, sights).
