Dark Dark Place May 07, 2015
Admission : 20kn (2015-May)

The place is located very near the Silver Gate & round the corner from the Peristyle. The restored Romanesque house has 3 storeys of items dedicated to the career of local painter Emanuel Vidović (1872-1953).

Croatia’s leading post-impressionist, Vidović was consumed by a life-long fascination with Adriatic townscapes, with Split & Trogir. A Croatian-language film about Vidović’s life is located on the top floor. (if you make it up there alive)

There is a nice room layout where you can highlight individual items of interest by pressing a switch for light. And.. tadaa ! you press the button but you can't see the item because of the position. Lift your finger and the light goes off. (did I mention the place is dark ?)I wonder which smart fellow designed it ?

Problems is : The place is very dimly lit. I don't know if the paints he used are extremely volatile or have low tolerance for light. I was stumbling along some entrances because I simply could not see properly.

For the portions which have decent light, you can appreciate the works. For the rest (which is most of it), you well be Batman or Delta force with night vision goggles, because you will be pissed.

Don't bring elderly people or those with poor eyesight into this place. It is a deathtrap for them. (unless they fixed it since) Or maybe you are planning an "accident" for your inheritance then hurry, hurry ! bring grandpa to see the works of art here !

*disclaimer - I ain't taking responsibility for your actions. :P
This is deceptively inviting. Wait…
