This great little family run B&B was the perfect place to relax. Elm House is located just at the end of the main street, but as Pooley Bridge is so small, everything is well within 10 minutes walk. Sheep graze at a farm to the rear of the house.
Kate Winter and her husband immediately provide a warm welcome on arrival with fresh brewed tea or coffee and home made scones. Which was perfect after a long drive. Their knowledge of the local area is extensive and were always available to answer any questions about local sites of interest or those further abroad. The rooms are very beautiful and cleaned. You can tell the Winter's take great pride in their home and business, ensuring the furniture and fittings are high quality and well maintained. There was a good selection of breakfasts to choose from. All were of excellent quality, freshly cooked with all local produce. I highly recommend this B&B if you ever find yourself in the Lakes District, in particular around Windermere Lake. Part of the The Lakes District travel blog |
