Ellijay Vacation Guide
Located 80 miles north of Atlanta, GA and 65 miles south of Chattanooga, TN with a population of about 1,582 (July 2007). Ellijay is considered to be the apple capital of Georgia. A few notes about history and attractions:
In 1842, there was gold rush in the town and even to day you can still find little nuggets of gold in the streams. Over 1000 Creek and Cherokee Indians started their Trail of Tears in this area.
Nearby attractions include: Carters Lake, Amicalola Falls State Park, and Chattahoochee National Forest in the Appalachian Mountain Range.
