Thankfully we check out of our ridiculously overpriced hotel, after waking at 11, and make our way over to our spiritual home, the Elizabeth hotel. Just to rub salt in the wound, we are charged $8 for laundry. Maybe that's the charge for having it done in a day. Or maybe the fact… All set for Laos!

The train gets into Hanoi at 4:30AM, and we get a taxi to the Elizabeth hotel, in the vain hope that:- a) It's open. and b) It has some rooms. Distressingly, a) is not an option, so we are left wandering around a ghost town with zombies/drunkards/yabbaheads. We find a hotel eventually, but no rooms. However, the owner… Day of productivity

I quite like the Elizabeth hotel. For $15, you get a decent bed, power shower, and a good location, right on the outskirts of the old quarter. Oh, and the internet is definitely the quickest I have had so far on this trip, so I think lots of blogging… Vive le Pub!

Apparently, our minibus isn't allowed in the Old Quarter, so we get a taxi to a hotel, the Elizabeth, which is $15 p/n. Not bad, we would take it if it was $200 to be honest, so tired! After 5/6 hours kip, we head out to Hoan Kiem lake, and have some food, but my stomach is dodgy again. It doesn… Into the capital!
