Best Sausages in the World Feb 28, 2017
It takes me 45 minutes to drive here – one way. That is just how good Elite Meat is. When I say the best sausages in the world – it’s not even close. When you go to the store and buy cheap ones, they shrivel to a much smaller size. This is because most sausages use cheap cuts of pork and ‘fillers’. Buy expensive sausages and you still get shrinkage. The massive sausages here do not shrink. Or have any fat running out of them when you cook them. They only use the fillet cut of free-range pork without any fat or fillers. And some of the flavours are amazing. My two favourite flavours are:

• Moroccan Spiced Ale Sausage

• Pork, Peach & White Stilton Sausage

They make a variety of flavours, but they are all a very large size. Huge really. They also make what they call the ‘Starbeck Sausage’. This changes every day. As they make the sausages each day, they start to run low on ingredients for several types so they blend several varieties into one sausage. Just ask them what the ingredients are. I am not a big fan of Black Pudding and some days that is in the Starbecks. The other awesome thing about these wonderful sausages is that they can be stored in your freezer – for one year. I give them as Christmas gifts and my friends love them.

Elite Meat is an award winning butcher and they have a lot of other great things from marinated raw meat, cooked meats, and meat pies. Their beef and pork are sourced from 2 local farms so they have complete control over the quality. Some of their awards include:

Britain’s Best Beef, Britain’s Best Ready Meal, Britain’s Best Cooked Meat, Britain’s Best Sausage, Britain’s Best Lamb, North East England Champion Young Sausage Maker, North East England Champion Ready Meal and North East England Champion Sausage.
