If you get down to Kanchanaburi, just west of Bangkok, check out www.elephants-friends.com. It was not only the best experience we had in Thailand, but one of the best weeks of my well-traveled life.


Stay with and become part of a Thai family taking care of three Asian elephants.  Take them to the river each morning and evening to bathe, learn how to ride and guide them, and eat fabulous food with the family.  1,000 baht per day if staying at least 3 days, includes accomodation and 3 big meals a day.

…I'm posting this entry to let everyone who followed our Asian adventures know that there are some serious problems going on with Elephants and Friends, the refuge Megs and I stayed at in Thailand.   In short, and as I understand it, a couple offered to help Phot purchase the land around the refuge earlier this year.  At some point the couple decided they wanted to own E&F and if not, then… Elephants and Friends needs HELP
