Whole Day Sauraha package Jan 08, 2017
We booked our whole day Sauraha package with Motherland Resort(where we stayed overnight) and the overall experience was awesome.

After the breakfast, we started our day with the canoe ride at around 7 am.It was 5 mins drive from our hotel.Initially, seeing the small boat and very low chair-backs, the ride seemed quite uncomfortable, however,it took our breath away.We saw plenty of crocodiles taking the sun bath on the banks, various beautiful birds and most interesting of all wild peacock drinking water from the river. We felt much more relaxed from previous day hectic bus ride to Chitwan.

After the canoe ride was over, they took us to elephant bathing center. This activity was the one that I liked the most.We took shower from the elephant tusk and at the end elephant just makes us fall down so we need to jump in the water.I did it twice because this was never a one time experience.

After lunch, we were taken for elephant safari. Four people sitting atop of 3-meter high adult elephant and a Mahout who rides the elephant. It was for an hour, where they took us inside the jungle. We saw deer, peacock, monkeys and fortunately a one-horned rhino. However, I found the ride to be difficult.

After the safari, we went for cycling towards elephant breeding center. On the way, we passed through the local village. Our guide gave the information about the way they live, their daily lifestyle- which was interesting. We reached elephant breeding center where there is a small museum which gives information about elephant habits .Further, in the center, we saw wild and trained elephants and elephant calves ranging from few months old to years old.

Finally, we were back to our hotel.

1) Got an overall jungle experience.

2) Saw lots of wildlife.

3) Got to know the local communities.

4) Really nice guides and well-organized package.

1) During elephant safari, the whole ride was difficult especially for me.

2) During elephant bath, we had to wait for almost an hour so expect this during peak hours.

3) Though the price was a bit on a high side ( 5- 10 $) but this should be fine seeing the management(by Raju) and the service provided by hotel staff members(especially by karan and dd) and guides .

Price that we paid: 5000rs(around $46) for me being a Nepali and 8500 rs ($82) for my friends .
