Elephant Head Lodge Travel Reviews

This is one of those things you do for a real change. Setting up the trip and having AAA make the reservations had been a challenge, especially when it came to Yellowstone. Not very many places coming in from the east and this one was rated 3 stars by AAA.
Driving into the Yellowstone area, I drove right by the entrance and had to turn around and come back. No signs to let you know and only a small sign and entry arch at the property. Up the fairly steep hill and away from the road a hundred yards or so in the trees is the Lodge, and Restaurant, with the cabins spread on up the hills behind. Our cabin was very cozy. Cute, well maintained, and very clean. One queen sized bed, two night stands with lamps and an old tredle sewing machine base on the desk. Not much room to move around and if you decided to hang your clothes the bench underneath could not be used. A nice little sink with a lite. The door to the bathroom only opened part way and the lavaratory and shower inside were pretty cozy too. There was a heater in the cabin for those cool spring and fall nights, but when we were there it was quite warm and no way to open the windows for fresh air while you slept and still maintain any privacy. We will smile about our quaint and cozy nights stay at the Elephant Head Lodge for a long time. Part of the 2006 Summer around the Western U.S. travel blog |

The restaurant at the Elephant Head Lodge certainly deserves a four star rating.
Remember, this place is miles and miles from Cody, the closest place to buy supplies. The prices were expected to be much higher than they were. And the quantity and quality did not suffer at all. The have a very good cook and the staff is helpful and enjoyable. For dinner, we were served one of the best Filet Mignons my wife and I can remember and the rest of the meal was exceptional too. For breakfast in the morning, the meal was just as tasty and good. We salute the owners for such great meals. Part of the 2006 Summer around the Western U.S. travel blog |
