Me and a few of my buddies went to Montreal, Quebec on June 30th of 2007 for a quick weekend getaway. We didn't realize that July 1st was Canada day, and so that very Sunday all of Montreal was in a frenzy. That Saturday, downtown Montreal was hosting a Brazilian festival, tucked in between St. Catherine and Rene Levesque St on Crescent, with all the Brahma Beer you can drink. The following day, we stumbled upon what was called The Electronic Picnic, an outdoor music and dance experience with hundreds of people groovin' to the same beats on one of the great lawns of Parc Jean Drapeau, taking in the view of Montreal's skyline right across the river St. Lawerence. It only cost something like 5 Canadian dollars. It happens each summer Sunday of the week from June to September, and it is by far one of the coolest outdoor electronic experiences Ive witnessed, not to mention that each DJs performance was filled with some seriously sick sets. Between the Brazilian Festival, Electronic Picnic and Canada Day, June and July are perhaps the best months to visit this magical city.
