A nice way to start to celebrate the peruvian independence´s day Jul 28, 2009
July 28, is the peruvian independence´s day.
How do we celebrate?????
Going out to the peñas to dance at night, and eat traditional and typical food.
Since we get 2 off days... 28 and 29, most of public companies, and some privates ones decided to have the monday off too.
All the companies???? Noooooo, not all, WE, I mean in the company I work at (still and not for longer... hoooopppeeee) had to WORK today.
So to make us feeling much better, we decided (my dept) decided to go out together for a lunch and eat CEVICHE !!!!
What´s ceviche??? It is fish cooked with lemon and salt. And as condiment, pepper and aji.
We work in the district of Surquillo, Lima, and the best and near place was El cocinero de los mares (Sea cooker).
Something I really liked was the decoration of each dish!!! And the ceviche was very good.
In my case I like ceviche with a puntito of aji, I mean with not so much aji. In some places they put so much aji on it that you cant really eat that well, with out eating sweet potatoes, or drinking water :p
Well it is not the case.
We ate tiradito de pescado (it is like the ceviche but without onions) with 3 kind of aji sauces, rice with seafood, rice with fish and shellfish, ohhh and tequeños filled with shrimps....
Since when we finished it the lunch hour was almost gone, we couldnt stay over there for the desert.
Next time I will go another day and will try at least one. The suspiro a la limeña looked WOW!!!
