A must while in Caracas Jan 28, 2011
A ride on the Teleferico to the peak of the Avila is a must when visiting Caracas.
The ride costs 35Bfs(about $7USD) and takes about 15 minutes each direction. The views of Caracas are fantastic! On a clear day, you can see the city and the Atlantic Ocean from the peak. Unfortunately, it was not clear when we visited. At the top there are many shops, restaurants, and snack outlets. At over 7000 feet up, it can be cooler than in the city so prepare for that. Although a little windy, the ride was smooth. Note--It can be crowded on the weekends and for special events, so expect wait times. Part of the Carousing in Caracas travel blog
