El Punto Bed And Breakfast Liberia Reviews
A huge surpise Sep 24, 2009
Situated on the Pan-American Highway, you would expect this converted school to be along the lines of a motel. You would be wrong.
Tropical birds feed from the coconut trees, iguanas take refuge from the heat in the shade of the brighly coloured shrubs and the hammocks provide the perfect place to relax in the warm afternoon sunshine.
The rooms are bright and minimalist, adorned with art created by Mariana, the owner of the hotel. You feel like you're staying in a classy loft somewhere in New York rather than next to a huge highway.
Each room comes with an en-suite with a powerful hot shower, organic soap and soft, white towels.
There are two double beds in each room, one on the ground floor, and another upstairs (like a duplex).
The sheets are clean, the beds are comfortable and the air conditioning and powerful ceiling fan is a relief from the Costa Rican humidity.
There is a small kitchen in each room with glasses, mugs and a coffee maker. A large fridge and kitchen sink is a nice addition.
Right next to a supermaket and strip mall, you don't have to go far for anything you need. Town is only 5 minutes walk away and the bus stop right outside serves destinations such as Canas, San Jose and so on.
All the staff are Costa Rican and very helpful. They do not always speak English but are exceptionally helpful and it makes for a great opportunity to practise your Spanish. If you really can't make yourself understood, they will call Mariana who speaks fluent English and is so helpful.
Staff will help you with which bus to take to get to your next destination and anything else you need to know.
The breakfast is incredible. Freshly baked bread with a selection of jams, freshly squeezed orange juice and delicious Costa Rican coffee goes down so easily. If you still have room, tuck into the tropical fruit and the scrambled eggs, so beautifully presented and delicious you feel like you are staying with a Costa Rican family, not in a hotel.
A truly wonderful place to stay, you would be insane to stay anywhere else.
