A Reference Point for El Pueblo - Evening Entertainment for the Sensational San Jose TB Meetup on September 16th 2008 Sep 16, 2008
El Pueblo is a recreation of an old Spanish colonial village, set around square courtyards. Inside the village are a mix of dozens of sounvenir shops, restaurants, bars and clubs. Clubs open in the late evening and stay open for most, if not all of the night. (Last entry is 3 a.m!)

This is where Costa Rican's youth come to 'strut their stuff!

You can expect to hear a wide variety of music styles depending on where you find yourself, from hardcore Reggaeton to Latino Pop from the charts. In the more dance orientated venues, you might see some serious Salsa moves being performed by both professional dancers and also enthusiastic amateurs!

What's nice about El Pueblo is, no matter what kind of entertainment you like, there is bound to be at least one venue that 'floats your boat'! With a lot of places not charging for entry before a certain time, you can also float about a bit until you settle on a place or two you really like!

A lot of the clubs and bars do special deals on drinks for a small entry fee and occasionally, give ladies free entry in order to entice more men in after them!

Drinks are good value and the place is, on the whole safe, especially when compared with the nightlife scene on the streets of San Jose! To be on the safe side, try not to bring anything too precious with you and make sure you stick with your friends/ group/ people you know. It might also be wise to pick a meeting point, should anyone get lost.

One thing to remember is the need to 'dress to impress' when coming to El Pueblo. There is no dress code as such, but if you turn up in flip flops and bermuda shorts everyone will know you're not from around here...so, be comfy, but also look like you're on a night 'out on the town', which you are!

We are here for our dinner, drinks and dancing on September 16th 2008, as part of our 'Sensational San Jose TravelBuddy Meetup'. Actual reviews to follow once we have all been.

I did go two years ago and I remember it was a pretty awesome night; lots of free rum and Reggaeton bump and grind! It will be really lovely to go here for dinner this time, as last time I got there after most places had closed for the evening.

Enjoying the nightlife at El Pue

Bummer...they might give you free entry if you act up to the 'Gringo loco' stereotype?!
Ditto for you Derek, with your Irish charms :D
I'll probably get free entry because I have a pair of breasts...tee hee... ;)
