El Manzano
El Manzano Reviews
May 01, 2007
We stayed at El Manzano in Puno, Peru because it was halfway in between the train station and Puno's port to go to the islands on Lake Titicaca. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were basic but clean. They have hot water for the showers during the day when they have power from their solar panels, and then lukewarm water at night. I took a shower at night and it was fine. They have laundry service for about $1.50 per kilogram. Plus the $10 a night rate for a double room with a private bath also includes breakfast! The breakfast is served in a nice covered patio on the third floor. The guy there also gave us a tip of how much to pay for our boat ride to the Island of Taquile to help us from getting ripped off. Plus they also stored our luggage for free. Most of the time, the person behind the counter does speak English but there are a couple fellows that spoke only Spanish. I can get by in Spanish so this wasn't an issue for us. Highly recommended.
