As a dominican, I enjoyed this restaurant. It is not the best dominican food you could buy but it is at a central location. The prices are fair and the place seems well run. If you want better you must go to inwood or washington heights. To try is the pollo guisado(stewed chicken),the steaks and of course traditional mangu(mashed plantains dish) also to try is the morir sonando(orange juice with milk drink) it is the national drink.

Affordable Latin food Aug 21, 2009
El Malecon is way uptown in the nosebleed section of Manhattan, otherwise known as Washington Heights. This area is loaded with Dominican People, Culture, and best of all FOOD!!! It is one of those places that has stood the test of time...and for good reason. They have the best Rotisserie Chicken in the world, and the huge plates of rice and beans are simply scrumptious. The tostones are awesome too. This is a great late nite spot after clubbing or any event and is easily reached by train, but I hear breakfast is pretty good here too. If you want authentic Dominican/Latin/Caribbean food this is a definite spot to hit. There are few located throughout the city, but this one is the original.
