El Lobo La Paz Reviews

Hikers, avoid. Slackers, enjoy. Nov 13, 2010
I stayed at El Lobo during my first and last week at La Paz. The first thing I noticed was the noise. The paper thin walls with the young "just got discharged so I care about nothing" Israelis who take up most of the rooms in the place. Combined with the availability and low price of drugs in the area, and you're either in for a good time (if you happen to be a recently discharged Israeli who likes to bum around the hostel all day and do drugs) or a nightmare.

The rooms themselves are of typical hostel quality (nothing fancy, but its dirt cheap). And the hostel restaurant (also called El Lobo) is actually quite good (again, for the price, we aren't talking gourmet cooking here). But the noise and resident population are a constant hassle.

In short, if you're looking for a quite place to crash after a long day exploring, you might want to try the Gloria hostel across the street (it's a bit more expensive but less loud). If you don't mind (or even like) the noise and cost is your main concern then El Lobo is right for you.

Enjoy your travels either way.
