El Cozumeleno Beach Resort Cozumel
El Cozumeleno Beach Resort Cozumel Reviews
The Motel 6 of All-Inclusives Apr 13, 2009
Food - PITIFUL - most of it inedible, even in the "high end" restaraunt. Could not believe how bad the food was - breakfast as well. It was honestly the nastiest buffet I have ever seen. Room service was a bit better though - at least it was warm and somewhat fresh. Honestly, if you are a frequent traveller and value your meal time, this is NOT your place. Thank God it is only a $7 cab ride into town. We spent close to $1000 on food - and stayed at an all inclusive. Read the other reviews... all mention the food - for good reason. Food alone should keep you out of this place, but read on...
Pool - hard to believe a resort would not have enough chairs at the pool to accomodate all guests. If you do not have a towel on a chair by 7AM forget it - no chair for you. Towels - the dumbest towel policy I have encountered; as if anyone would actually want to steal any of these nasty towels anyway, you must turn in your towels daily. If you lose a towel (and you will because someone will take it, and it could very well be the El Coz staff) they will charge you $25 per towel - they are not the least bit interested in why you lost it. We did turn in all towel cards after taking a towel to replace one taken from us... BRING YOUR OWN TOWELS and avoid this idiocy. Tipping - as expected you need to have small bills for tips. But don't expect to get change for a $20 from the resort - unless you want pesos. While they certainly had plenty of bills on hand, they refused all requests to cash in larger bills for singles. We had some success changing 10's and 20's with bartenders. This one falls into the "you get what you pay for" category. I suggest that you either pony up the extra cash and stay at 5 golden apple or stay in the USA. Once they have your money the service aspect ends. Don't expect high end service or quality fare. Ran out of decent wine. We bought a bottle in town - and the hotel wanted $10 to open it! Needless to say we opened it ourselves and proudly drank it publicly. The location is great however; nice beach and the water is breathtaking. Rooms were OK, relatively clean and cool (AC worked well). Drink service at the pool was good, had a server named Marisol who was really, really great. She should be promoted to GM. Plenty of spring break teens and they did strictly enforce the drinking age. If you were not 18 you did not drink (at least not in public). |
