El Chalten Vacation Guide
One of the most beautiful places in the world, surely. Cerros FitzRoy and Torre are stunning mountains that provide an amazing backdrop to the town of El Chalten. El Chalten is set amongst epic countryside vistas home to the puma and many other animals.
The town itself was founded by Argentina to lay claim to the land during a border dispute with Chile in the mid 1980's. Today it is a trekker and mountain climber town geared towards people setting off into the Los Glaciares NP wilderness. While there are an increasing number of hotels, restaurants, and basic services, finding an ATM is still not possible in this small town.
So enjoy this town and get out and explore the surrounding areas of the Southern Andes.

ALWAYS A BUS STORYThe ride from Calafate to Chalten is a short one...just 4 hours. But, it is 4 hours on a dirt road. Add to that having a crazy dude who plays a flute on the bus and it is even longer. Then come across a broken down pick up truck and a good samaritan bus driver.&n…
