El Badi Palace
El Badi Palace Marrakech Reviews
Poignant palace Nov 24, 2010
Although this palace was built in the sixteenth century, it now looks like a set of ruins as the building was heavily torn down by Moulay Ismail in the eighteenth century when he was building his palace in Meknes.
Despite the historic plundering, the site is worth visiting. Some of the original tiling and walkways are still evident. There is an area which must have been the servants' area of the palace, as it contains many little rooms and sections, and the presence of pipes for water or drainage suggested that a lot of activity went on here.
I also liked the large birds which had taken to living on the upper walls! Also, do make it up the roof for really nice overviews of Marrakesh.
Though ruined, the palace is worth a visit and I recommend it thoroughly.
