Taxco maybe known for silver, this restaurant's known for its pish! Nov 27, 2008
I had lunch here as part of my day trip with Grayline Travels and it was a disaster from the get-go. For the rather pathetic portion of food you get, it was a bit pricey for Mexican standards (140 pesos, that's about 11 US$). Being vegetarian, there was really only one choice - cheese quesidillas. Only, the cheese was stale, and the quesedillas were like rubber. The beans were terrible and undercooked, the vegetable soup was like red oily water with a bit of salt, and the bread was hard. There are only 2 things I'd recommend in this rsnt - the excellent sweeping views of the city, as well as the back portion of the Church from the balcony. The weather was perfect and in hindsight, I think the money was worth it just for the view. Next, the dessert - ice cream. I don't know if it was locally made or a national brand, but I sure enjoyed it a lot.

Overall, don't visit this place. But you can't avoid it if you're part of the tour. Or perhaps you can.... just say you're not hungry and go elsewhere. Taxco's got lots of small eateries and delis and you're better off eating there. Even if the food isn't any better, at least it's 10x cheaper!
