El Asador de Aranda Barcelona Reviews
Apr 10, 2006
We stumbeled across this restaurant when we where on our way up to Tibidabo. It's located in a beautiful house, that appears more like a stately home than a restaurant. We where lucky to have a table the same night considering It's a very popular place for buissness dinners, and the fact that no one understood a word of english. With my lousy spanish, mixed up with a few Italian words i did make myself understood anyway:-)
Arriving to the restaurant later that evening, we where again stunned with the bauty of the place, all lit up by spotlighs from the outside. The interior was even more impressive, with high ceilings and gothic arches. We allmost felt like we where inside a cathedral.
The waiters where very correct and efficient, and there where white table-cloths, candles on the table, nice cutlery and big wine glasses.
you can choose from five set-menues all containing their speciallity; Roast baby-lamb as the main course, but with variations of starters, desserts and wine.
The baby lamb is cooked whole in terracotta pots in a special oak-wood oven. It's served plain, only with a sallad on the side. The lamb was broght whole to the table, and the waiter cut it into pieces for us. We expected him to make nice slices , but if you can picture this: An Ork from the lord of the rings killing a Hobbit, that is about what happened. The unidenifiable mash of meat and bones on the plate is hard to describe. The taste however is a different matter. It was incredably tender and juicy, and matched the Rioja Reserva in our glasses wonderfully. Check out more pictures and information on the website!
