Recently, a couple of friends said we should head out to the beach. After some discussion as to which beach to head on, we settled on Eko tourist hotel beach resort. It is located at Akodo, near Lekki Peninsula, Epe Expressway. Again, it’s far from Ikeja, my home base in Lagos, Nigeria. It is about 50 kms from Ikeja and that translate to about two hours drive from the mainland.

The place was practically deserted and relatively clean. The entrance fee is N 1000 naira which is about 7US$, however, there was nothing to do there except take pictures and try your luck swimming on the always angry atlantic ocean. We went there on a Saturday, and I was thinking there would be other amenities offered, but nada. Nobody was cooking food for the guest and I didn’t see any store inside offering even just soft drinks or bottled water. I also tried asking the helpers around how much do they charge for one night stay, but they said, they didn’t know, that I should ask the office people, pointedly pointing me (pun intended!) to the administration office.

That place is alright as long as you bring along your own food, and you just really need to quiet down, just enjoy the breeze and a little frolicking on the edge of the frothy waters.
