...And then there was light!
Eindhoven is in size the fifth city in the Netherlands, located in the southern province North-Brabant. The city has a great nightlife, Stratumseind is a street in the citycentre with a lot of bars and cafe's (more then 50 in one street) to go out and have fun & yep...it is voted the greatest party-street in Europe. Eindhoven is also great for shopping. The city is the home base of European top-soccerclub PSV, and the city is also known for the knowledge in the area of design and technology.The company of Philips was founded here and the best design talents study at the design academy. There is also the University for Technology.

Old city with a modern face
Walking through the streets of Eindhoven you see a young, modern city. But looks can be deceiving. Eindhoven is in fact one of the oldest cities in The Netherlands and has a very interesting history! It received city rights back in 1232. A lively cigar and textile industry developed along the Dommel River. In the city centre you can still see the imposing villas and mansions built by industrialists. The trainstation is also a interesting building, it has the shape of an old type radio with an antenna next to it.
The Van Abbemuseum (modern and contemporary art from the 20th and 21 st centuries) is one of the most spectacularly designed museums in the Netherlands.

The creation of the light-bulb in 1891 and the first DAF truck a little later was the beginning of the development and flourishing of the city. Since then Eindhoven has grown to become one of the most prominent cities of Europe in the fields of technology, knowledge and design.
