Eilean Donan Castle is dramatically situated on a small isle at the meeting point of three sea lochs - Loch Long, Loch Duich and Loch Alsh. The original castle was built in 1220 for Alexander II as a defence against the Vikings. By the late 13th century it had become a stronghold of the Mackenzies of Kintail (later the Earls of Seaforth). In 1511, the MacRaes, as protectors of the MacKenzies, became the hereditary Constables of the Castle.

The morning of day 4 brought us to the door of the famous Eilean Donan Castle. The castle is full of history that dates back to the 6th century. It is situated on prime real-estate on Loch Duich. It is also known all over the world because of it's appearance in such movies as Highlander and The World Is Not Enough. Scotland is a great place to travel around so much to see, it was a fantastic tour. Also see the photos my boyfriend took under DL4PLM.... some I am very sure are the same ....
The food for vegetarians was not that great!!

For lunch we stopped off at a northern fishing port town where we got some fish and chips. There was also a challenge by Gordon to buy a toy for under £3 from the local shop. It was a bit of a crazy shop - in an odd way, hardware store downstairs, toy shop come bits & bobs shop upstairs. For £2.99, I purchased a small toy boat, thinking about the connection tot he local area, but no, others went for mroe more inguiness toys, like the wind-up fish, the bubbling pen, and the 'Jacobs ladde…

A 3 week tour of Scotland including Inner/Outer Hebridies and the Highlands - probably one of the best holidays I have ever done - superb scenery great place to visit - something I never did even after living there for 20 years - well worth the wait!
