The Egyptian Museum May 01, 2009
The greatest collection of Egyptian antiquities is, without doubt, that of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
To be sure, the museum can be daunting in the sheer numbers of its antiquities on show, but there is an order within its layout and it is a dream come true for anyone wanting to study Egyptian antiquities. However, the negative side is that the environmental and display conditions leave a great deal to be desired. Labels on some exhibits date from early in the century and many items have no labels at all. Guidebooks are available at the museum, although they are limited to some of the major items. |

the mummie hall May 30, 2008
Extremly worth the visit, perfect oppertunity to see the famous king rameses the great in all his glory. then of course there was the wonderfull experience of the animal mummy chamber which i thought looked more like animal fosils. what was most facinating was the aligator or crocidile that had been mummified.
if you happen to visit ciaro then the egyption museum is a must see and the mummie hall is an experience that must not be missed. |

Ok Museum Jul 15, 2007
I went here on July, so it was so hot. I expected air conditioning, but they didn't have it. So, I was half passed out and couldn't concentrate to see things with the heat although there were a lot of cool stuff. If you go here on winter, it's better.
Regular adult admission is about $10, but if you pay extra ( I forgot how much, it wasn't cheap compared with regular admission fee), you can go to King Tut's cool stuff. Also, we can't bring certain things inside of the museum, so reception will take your baggage without any charge. Kids were working there, too, so I was really worried, but it was ok. It's better not to bring anything valuable. My stuff was ok, but it's not that safe. They just put it in a small box. Since I don't have any pictures of the museum, maybe even camera is not allowed. Sorry, I don't remember clearly. My honest opinion is it's ok for the price. You can't imagine it like museums in the US or any advanced countries. I guess it's a decent museum for Africa, but it's worth going! Check it out if you are interested in. Part of the Africa - Egypt travel blog |

Todays itinerary was to go to the Egyptian Museum and the Khan el Khalili
bazaar in the Islamic quarter. The Egyptian Museum is a ten minute walk from
our hotel. We literally stepped onto the bridge across the Nile, barely feet
outside the last barricade to our hotel when we were approached… Hello My Friend, You Are My Friend |

He laid out the plan for the day - we start first with the Egyptian Museum. The three of us were quite curious why we're starting off (when the weather was relatively cool) inside a cool area, and why we can't do the Pyramids first. His reasoning was simple - it's a lot easier to absorb the pyramids… Day Seven: Kodak-moment day! Egyptian Museum, Pyramids of Giza and the bazaars |

Our plan for the day was to visit the Egyptian Museum and then head to the airport for our 4:00pm flight back to Europe. After breakfast, we began the short walk to the museum. In the process, we had to cross a few roads. Crossing roads in downtown Cairo should be considered an Olympic… Close your Eyes and Pray to Alah |

The Egyptian Museum is pretty amazing! I spend a good 5 hours in there and still did not see everything. The amount of material there is immense and it would take many visits to take it all in.
There were a couple of things… Egyptian Museum |
